We planted our tropical food forest in Florida!
Planted over 100 fruit trees, dug a pond and stocked it with fish, and of course planted as many seeds as we could. Our goal is to do this every winter, in hope that we can harvest more food every year. We just can't believe the variety of food we can grow in Florida! Planting in zone 9b is all new to us, and it's a great learning experience. We love showing others organic gardening is the way to go, and anyone can do it no matter where they live.
Found many plants we had never heard of, we couldn't wait to start planting. After bringing home our plants we noticed the bees coming around more and more. This bee picture was taken after we had planted our orange tree.
We just loved it! Of course it needed some work, but to have our own little piece of paradise was amazing. It was untouched, and secluded. What we like the most, is having palm trees to sit under.
We hacked a pathway through the undergrowth, leaving any plants we thought we should.
We started mulch piles, green leaf piles, brush piles, and got a fire going. We dug out our canal and collected the dirt for planting. Before we knew it, we had everything we needed to start our gardens.
